Maui and Moana are ready for a summer adventure and you will be too once you add one of these Moana Shirts to your summer wardrobe. These subtly Disney shirts have a hint of tropical flair that makes them just right for summer getaways.
Wayfinder Expeditions
The first two shirts are inspired by Moana’s Journey of Water. In the foreground of the shirt, you see tropical flowers and palm trees. A storm seems to be brewing up because the waves and water is high. Maui’s boat is sailing a little bit too far away from the shoreline. Next to it, I see an outline of what looks like Hawaii. The Heart of Te Fiti even appears in the word Expeditions. The design comes in two different options. The first is this relaxed t-shirt with a gray background, found here. It reminds me of a punk rock band t-shirt.
The second option is this cozy pull-over sweater, found here. The plum and burnt orange color scheme reminds me of the colors that Moana wears in the movie. I can’t wait to cuddle up with this hoodie by a roaring fire all summer long.
Maui’s Tattoo Shop
Thirteen year old me just jumped for joy when I saw the second design. The Maui Tattoo Shop design reminds me of a vintage Ed Hardy shirt, which makes me happy beyond compare, even today. Maui’s name appears at the top of the design with Polynesian inspired tattoo markings in each of the letters. His hook is nestled in tropical blooms and it also has Polynesian markings all over it. Look closely at the bottom of the shirt and you will discover that Maui’s Tattoo Shop opened in 2016, the same year that the movie came out. Next to the opening date, you will see the phrase, “You’re Welcome”, which is a slight nod to Maui’s song. And, as far as I’m concerned, the perfect slogan for his shop. Like the first pattern, this design also comes in two shirt options. The first option, found here is a short-sleeved tee that is the color of Maui’s hair.
The second option is this long-sleeved, almost camo-colored shirt, found here. The camo color fits right in with Maui’s adventurer storyline. The shirt is also hand-dyed, which fits the Polynesian Tattoo theme.
