I am not a newbie when it comes to the incredible dining experiences at Disney World and, more specifically, Epcot. I love eating around the World Showcase and experiencing food from all over the world (without the jet lag). The one restaurant I had yet to try was Tutto Italia at the Italian Pavilion and that was a huge mistake…. it was one of the best culinary experiences I have ever had. A meal at Tutto Italia will transport you directly to Italy!
Chip and I were welcomed by Tiziano, the sommelier for Tutto Gusto and Tutto Italia. Tiziano took his love and passion of wine and turned it into not only his hobby but his livelihood!
Tiziano was first introduced to the world of wine from an early age while growing up with his family in Brescia, a small province in Northern Italy. Being exposed to the culture and creativity that goes into the food and drink sparked his interest from an early age. The desire to discover more about wine pushed him into his studies and formed an appreciation for the vast world of wine. I promise you this man knows what he is talking about. His choice of pairings proved he has incredible taste!
Our first course was a lovely prosciutto and this was paired with the prosecco you see Tiziano holding in the photo above. This pairing was light and was the perfect combination of salty and sweet. I am a huge fan of salty and sweet so I was already impressed.
The prosecco is Bosco del Merlo Prosecco. This can only be found at the Italian Pavilion at Epcot! I was dying to buy a bottle to bring home but it looks like I will just need to keep visiting the Italian Pavilion to grab a glass when I visit.
After a delightful wine and cheese course, we moved on to the 3rd course. This is where things switched up for Chip and I. I have a shellfish allergy and Tiziano and Chef Renzo Barcatta created a dish especially for me to go with the wine chosen for this course. I had Fettuccine Campangolo which is a delightful alfredo dish where the fetttucine is green because of the arugula in the sauce. It was outstanding when paired with the Soave Classico, a white wine that brought out the creaminess of the pasta.
The fourth course (yes, I really ate all of this…. I didn’t want to be rude…haha), was a Chicken Scallopini. This was paired with a full bodied Chianti and the Chianti paired perfectly with the pepper in the scallopini. It just exploded in your mouth. Perfection!
If you know me at all, you would know that I will happily skip a main course to get to dessert. I love sweets. This dessert course was exquisite! It was a sampling of some of the desserts served at Tutto Italia but I must say, I agree with my husband… the Tiramisu was insane. I could have had 3 more…. maybe.
The dessert course was paired with a sweet spumante rose called Corbinello. I have always been a fan of Rosa Regale but this blew that out of the water. It was sweet and bubbly and, as Tiziano says, “happiness.” It sure made me happy!
At this point I was already extremely full and more than a little light headed. I was told I must try two other Italian beverages, Grappa and Limoncello. I will be honest and say that I am not a fan of the Grappa but I do like the Limoncello! I am not Italian but my husband is and I had to at least try. We chatted with Tiziano as he shared stories of Italy, wine and food with us. The perfect ending to a truly enchanting meal.
After what can only be described as one of the best meals I have ever eaten at Disney, I had the pleasure of meeting up with Tiziano 2 more times in the next few days! We had reservations for the Food and Wine festival events at Tuttu Gusto and Via Napoli both with Tiziano as sommelier! I feel like I have a new friend at the Italian pavillion.
Tiziano is a wealth of knowledge, professional and a downright fabulous human being. He also has a fantastic sense of humor… “You won’t find this at Total Wine!”
If you are trying to decide where to go for a meal at Disney World, look no further. Drop in to Tutto Italia or Tutto Gusto and visit the incredible staff and our friend Tiziano. Don’t forget to tell him Chip and Michelle said hello (and have a glass of Corbinello for us) !
Thanks to our hostess at Allied Integrated Marketing and the staff at Tutto Italia for an amazing afternoon we will never forget.
