I think we all have that special memory of our first trip to Disney and for some of us, that was back in the day when things looked a tiny bit different than they do now. We have memories of things that may not even exist anymore but still bring smiles to our faces. The newest merchandise released in the Disney Parks brings us back to those days. Let me share with you some of the ideas and artwork behind this nostalgic new Disney parks merchandise.
Above is a picture of the artwork that can be found on much of the merchandise in Disneyland. Disney Parks Blog met up with the creative minds behind the artwork and here’s what Eric Caszatt had to say.
“Each year, we create an art program that we call ‘Storybook. That art traditionally features many characters grouped together around icons from Disney Parks. This year, we took a different design approach. Unlike the dated 2015 artwork that has characters showing off their Disney Side, we wanted to capture the feelings guests may have when first visiting Disney Parks. We internally called this program ‘Project Fairytale’ as it captures the emotions, the fantasy, and the wonder that guests may experience during a Disney vacation.”
I think, from looking at the details in the art, that we can understand what the artists were going for here. We all know that feeling of racing into the Parks and perhaps dragging along that slow poke who just isn’t moving fast enough. Everything is so bright and vibrant and exciting that it seems so far away but it’s waiting for you right at the end of Main Street and all around.
The artwork that was created was similar for both coasts but they each feature aspects that are specific to either Disneyland or Walt Disney World. After they were created, they were able to take this artwork and place it in a multitude of different merchandise. I have a few favorite pieces that I want to share with you.
I love the tee shirts that were created. They are very similar but if you look closely, you can see that the Disneyland tee has images of California Adventure and the Walt Disney World tee has images from all four Parks. Similar yet so different.
I love how this platter meshes all 4 parks into one seamless picture. I think it’s creative and colorful and fabulous!
Who doesn’t love a good tumbler. The above is similar to the Disneyland artwork I shared with you but it is actually for Walt Disney World!
Clearly, there are a ton of different items you can purchase with this nostalgic artwork on it for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. I did look and some of these items are already available at the Disney Store online. What do you all think of the new artwork? Does it bring you back to your first trip?? Let me know in the comment box below.
Thanks to Disney Parks Blog for the pictures.
