Rosa Mexicano is now open at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel! We had the chance to be there for the opening and believe me when I say, this is one restaurant you do not want to miss! The iconic Mexican restaurant serves award-winning margaritas and signature menu items at its first Orlando location.
Noted Mexican restaurant, Rosa Mexicano, celebrated the grand opening today of its first Orlando-area location at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel.
Rosa Mexicano offers a fresh take on authentic Mexican classic dishes in a stylish and festive atmosphere. The restaurant honors Mexican heritage as well as the culinary techniques, global explorations and inspirations of its founding chef, Josefina Howard. The venue features dramatic design elements such as rich, bold color tones and vibrant murals, transporting guests on a unique culinary journey.
“We are pleased to be the first Orlando location for Rosa Mexicano and to expand our current dining options for local Orlando residents and our hotel guests,” said Sean Verney, area general manager of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel. “This is a great partnership of two iconic food and beverage teams, and we couldn’t be more excited for guests to experience this newest, unique offering.”
With current locations in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut, Virginia and Maryland, as well as upcoming openings in Las Vegas and Fort Lauderdale, the dynamic brand offers an elevated fiesta dining experience, including signature menu items and award-winning margaritas. Blending traditional and culinary innovations, the menu showcases varied cuisine from all regions of Mexico, time-honored preparation techniques and modern food trends currently thriving in Mexico.
Now, let’s talk about those margaritas! Unfortunately, I had to drive after this event, so I only took advantage of the Signature Pomegranate Margarita. However, it was delicious! Easily one of my favorite margaritas I’ve ever had, this drink is sweet and tart, refreshing and vibrant. The restaurant’s frozen pomegranate margarita was named the best in New York City!
The restaurant also features Rosa Mexicano’s renowned beverage portfolio, which boasts over 100 varieties of tequila and agave-based spirits.
Guests will also enjoy captivating décor, with dramatic design elements familiar to fans of the brand, which transports guests on a unique culinary journey. The 5,500-square-foot restaurant seats up to about 189 guests, including a 40-person bar and a beautiful private dining room for 50. One notable design feature is a centerpiece painting of regarded Mexican artist, Frieda Kahlo, noted for her self-portraits featuring bold, vibrant colors.
“We are excited to open Rosa Mexicano at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin and for guests to experience the elevated fiesta that the restaurant offers. Staying true to our founding chef Josefina Howard’s vision of introducing Mexican culinary traditions to the world, it’s incredibly gratifying to see Rosa Mexicano open in such an iconic location,” said Jim Dunn, CEO of Rosa Mexicano. “Orlando residents and visitors alike will experience our fresh take on authentic Mexican food and will enjoy the fun and festivity of dining at Rosa Mexicano.”
Now, of course, I know you all want to hear about the food. Lucky for you, I ate it all! Any dish they brought past me, I grabbed a bite! Purely for research purposes, of course!
First up are the tacos! On the left, the duck taco was super flavorful and complex. Shredded duck breast was topped with fresh salsa and sprinkled with Cotija cheese. On the right, the birria taco was so tender and juicy! While it comes with a dipping sauce, you really don’t even need it to experience the full flavor of this dish.
For those looking for a dish that is full of flavor without the heat, the verde enchiladas are what you want! Tender, moist and definitely delicious!
For seafood lovers, there is plenty to enjoy. These spicy shrimp skewers were incredible. I will be totally honest. I don’t like shrimp. But for the sake of research, I had to try one. I went back for three more. That’s how good they were! On the right, the tuna ceviche with mango and habanero salsa was a flavor explosion and the perfect summer appetizer.
Finally, we all need something sweet after a savory meal. Look no further than the churros. These were the most perfect churros I have ever had. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, absolutely coated in sugar, and not greasy at all! Plus, with the choice of raspberry or chocolate dipping sauce, there is no way you can go wrong.
I cannot wait to go back to Rosa Mexicano with my family to experience even more of the menu options! This time, I’ll let my husband drive so I can enjoy some of those tequila options as well!
