Did you go to see Alice Through The Looking Glass? You may have seen the picture I posted on Instagram when I went, wearing the Colleen Atwood Collection from the film. I really enjoyed the film and I am loving all the collaborations based around the film. Now, Singapore designer, Carrie K, is collaborating with Disney for a whimsical collection you must check out!
Disney’s “Alice Through the Looking Glass” promises all the fanfare and fantasticality one might come to expect. In celebration of such imagination, Disney approached jewelry brand, Carrie K. to create two capsule collections to coincide with the movie’s Asia release in early July titled “Disney/Carrie K. − Alice Through the Looking Glass”. Well-known in her native Singapore for storytelling through playful, contemporary design, the label seemed the obvious fit for the commission.
The newest to join the honorary ranks of such Disney brand collaborators as Valentino, Christian Louboutin, Comme Des Garcons and beyond, the Carrie K. brand vows not to disappoint. Led by Founder and Designer, Carolyn Kan the team approached every aspect of the movie’s themes with thoughtful consideration. The first capsule collection, “Key Hole” is a reflection of the tale’s main motif “Perspective”. Exploring the concept from all angles, each piece is designed such that the shape of the key hole can only be recognized at particular perspectives. The second set is about “Time” focusing on the principal character from “Alice Through the Looking Glass”. This gregarious group features gears as the focal visual icon -reimagined into inventive artisan crafted adornments fit for any Hollywood red carpet.
“We think that life is too serious, so we try to sprinkle a little magic into peoples’ lives through the playful stories in our Jewelry,” explains Kan. “So when Disney approached Carrie K. to work with them, it felt like a match made in heaven.”
The two collections, featuring fifteen or so styles include such highlights as Pendulum and Chronosphere earrings, a two-way-wearing choker, a pendant watch piece, a Gear lariat and ring, DRINK ME straws as well as limited edition pave diamond statement neckpieces and bracelets. The original items feature semiprecious gems in silver, plated with 14K gold, ranging in price from $200-$600US.
