Year of the Rabbit Ears Coming Soon

We recently showcased the Year of the Rabbit Merch that ShopDisney has released. In those pictures, there was an easter egg or hidden mickey if you will. Did you spot it? Here’s a hint…lean your ear this way so I can whisper the answer. Ear! Exactly! Year of the Rabbit Ears are coming soon!

I love the irony that the year of the Rabbit should happen to fall on the 100 year anniversary of Walt Disney Productions. Mickey Mouse is a direct descendant of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. It’s as if we’ve come full circle. Walt started with a rabbit and as we celebrate a century of his work, it’s the year of the rabbit.

The Chinese New Year Ears are the perfect juxtaposition of history versus present. The Minnie ears appear to be created from a brocade or other textured fabric. Fuzzy white ears protrude from the middle of the headband tucked behind a traditional gold bow. Gold is a common theme in the Lunar New Year as it represents good luck.

I would have to say these ears are one of my favorite pieces in the collection, right behind the children’s red Thumper sweater. However, seeing that I can’t fit into children’s clothes, the year of the rabbit ears moved into the number one spot. What is your favorite piece in the collection? Share a note and let us know.
