Pack your cards because we are heading downtown! Disney Lorcana Hyperia City is the newest adventure coming to the Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game. This time, Illumineers are entering a dazzling metropolis filled with music, shopping, nightlife, and Disney magic.
Even more exciting, glimmers from Disney and Pixar’s Coco are making their Lorcana debut. Disney Princesses, Mickey Mouse, and other returning favorites are joining the fun, too. Plus, there is a brand-new game mechanic to discover along the way.
If you have been following Lorcana with us, make sure to revisit our Disney Lorcana Attack of the Vine Collection Brings Pixar Magic To The Table coverage, too. We are loving Lorcana here at The Disney Fashionista.
Welcome to Hyperia City
One of my favorite parts of this release is that Hyperia City feels like a destination of its own. Every card depicts glimmers throughout different neighborhoods and boroughs. These include City Center, Wandering Straits, and Old Towne Hyperia.
Then, there is the Marigold District. Here, glimmers from Coco fill the streets with musical performances. The Rivera family is ready to take the stage, while Ernesto de la Cruz also appears on the set. Honestly, a Disney Lorcana city filled with music, art, and fabulous characters sounds like my kind of town!
Coco Finally Joins Disney Lorcana
Coco fans have a major reason to celebrate this release. The beloved Pixar film is finally represented in Disney Lorcana. The official Hyperia City preview confirms glimmers from the Rivera family. Additionally, cards inspired by Coco can reward players for having past glimmers in their discard pile. Of course, the gorgeous Marigold District setting also feels perfect for these characters. I cannot wait to see which Coco artwork becomes a must-have for collectors.
A New Ink Drop Mechanic Arrives
Something mysterious is also happening around town. Hyperia City introduces ink drops, a completely new Lorcana game mechanic.
An ink drop is a counter that provides one-time-use ink. Players can spend it to play cards from their hand. Certain cards may also use the resource in other ways. The discovery even plays into the storytelling of the set. Over at the Multidisciplinary Academy for Genius, Imagination, and Creativity, known as M.A.G.I.C., research is underway.
There, Big Hero 6 glimmers such as Honey Lemon are experimenting with the new technology. According to Disney Lorcana Lead Game Designer Lukas Litzsinger, ink drops can change the tempo of a game. The designers purposely focused on one mechanic for this set.
Enchanted and Iconic Cards Take Us Out on the Town
Card collectors, this section is for us! The Enchanted cards showcase Hyperia City’s nightlife through special handcrafted artwork. Scenes range from an unforgettable concert to someone working late on a passion project. However, two especially rare cards are also joining the party. The set’s Iconic cards are Mickey Mouse – Best in Town and Cinderella – Unintentional Icon. Mickey’s card was previously revealed at D23. Cinderella as an unintentional style icon? Fashionistas, it sounds like she belongs in Hyperia City!
Disney Lorcana Hyperia City Illumineer’s Trove
Naturally, we also need somewhere to keep all those fabulous new cards.
The Hyperia City Illumineer’s Trove features a full-art storage box. Inside, collectors receive eight booster packs, six damage dice, and additional accessories. For collectors who enjoy the accessories almost as much as the cards, the Trove is definitely worth watching.
Booster Packs and Booster Display Boxes
Nothing beats the suspense of opening a fresh Lorcana booster pack. Hyperia City will continue that tradition with booster packs and Booster Display Boxes. Between the first Coco glimmers, Enchanted cards, and those two rare Iconics, collectors certainly have plenty to hunt.
Start Early With a Hyperia City Prerelease Box
Can’t wait until October 23? There is another option!
Prerelease Boxes will be offered alongside Hyperia City prerelease events. Ravensburger describes these boxes as containing exclusive keepsakes designed to enhance the prerelease experience. Hyperia City prereleases October 16, 2026, at game stores and select Disney Parks and stores. The collection then becomes available everywhere October 23.
Disney Lorcana Is Already Looking Ahead to 2027
Into the Inkdark will become the first Lorcana set of 2027. A Hades glimmer is apparently causing trouble underneath the realm of Lorcana. Furthermore, his fiery ambitions may cause a new threat to emerge.
This release will introduce collector boosters. Both regular and collector boosters contain 12 randomized cards, according to Ravensburger. However, collector boosters exclusively offer the new Illustrious cards.
Those cards take Lorcana collecting to another level. Illustrious cards will be the game’s first serialized cards. Six will appear in each set, and only 23 copies of each will be printed. They will also feature bespoke artwork and prominent artist credits. Yes, you read that correctly. Only 23 of each!
