Here at the Disney Fashionista we’re more than just fashion. Founder, writer and editor Michelle is a pediatric surgical/trauma nurse. By day she’s a Fashionista and by night she’s a super hero. She’ll kill me for saying that but it’s true. If you remember our Facebook page last month, you’ll recall The Oscar party was a fundraiser for Give Kids the World. The same organization you’ll see below in this press release. For the next few minutes, buckle your seat belt and read about the Best Flight Ever.
JFK-MCO
On April 12th, the Best Flight Ever departed New York for Orlando. For Make a Wish recipients, every time they leave for a wish trip is their best flight, however today 27 Make a Wish recipients and their families had a magical send off for the granted wish to visit Walt Disney World resort. After a pre-flight celebration at JFK airport, these families boarded a generously donated chartered American Airlines jet amid the cheers from supporters who make their wishes possible.
Inflight Entertainment
Brian Kelly, also known as The Points Guy, emceed the flight. “As a lover of travel, long-time supporter of Make-A-Wish, and firm believer in using travel as a force for good, I’m thrilled to be hosting The Best Flight Ever alongside Make-A-Wish, American Airlines and Disney.” The families participated in interactive games, a special snack menu and surprise moment including a sing-a-long with Michael James Scott who stars as Genie in ALADDIN on Broadway.
Volunteerism
The families will be staying at Give Kids the World, a whimsical resort where they will stay for 6 days and 5 nights. All of the children’s wishes are to visit the Walt Disney World Resort, and together with Make-a-Wish, Disney has helped grant more than 145,000 life-changing wishes like these since 1980. These wish trips allow families to create memories that last a lifetime outside of hospitals and allow kids to be kids.
As one of the local ambassadors for my company I have the pleasure to work with Make a Wish of Eastern North Carolina. Along with Michelle and the Disney Fashionista’s donations, my coworker is able to create swag bags for the kids upon send off for their Granted Wishes. Here is a special recipient on her way to the Galactic Star Cruiser before opening day!
