Remember when Disney Parks Blog announced that new, character-inspired makeovers were available at The Grand Floridian and Fashionistas everywhere lost their minds? Well, if you happened to miss it, don’t worry—because these magical transformations aren’t actually available after all.
I was so excited when Disney Parks Blog released their video and article promoting the new line of Character Couture makeovers that I scheduled an appointment right away! The article promised different characters from the Princess and Villain lines as well as Star Wars and Marvel. The accompanying video showed fabulous makeup themed to Minnie Mouse, Ursula, and Cinderella. I was pumped to see everything that was offered! I even mentioned the video and article when I made my appointment; I wanted to be sure I was booking the correct package. Although the video mentioned getting these makeovers at Senses Spa at the Grand Floridian, when I called to book the appointment, I was told these were being offered at Ivy Trellis Salon (also at The Grand Floridian,) not Senses.
However, when I got to Ivy Trellis yesterday morning, I was told that the staff has not yet received training on or even pictures of these looks yet. It seems the video from Disney Parks Blog surprised them as much as it did us! I was offered an “updo and simple makeup” which is what Ivy Trellis has always offered. While this is a lovely package, it wasn’t what I wanted, so I left without receiving any services. The staff was friendly, courteous, and apologetic, but really could not provide any information on the new makeovers. If you were planning on booking (or had already booked,) be prepared that you might not get exactly what you were expecting. Definitely, have a backup plan in mind!
Disney fans were super excited about these makeovers, and we hope they get the kinks worked out and have these ready soon! I know I’ll be calling regularly to see when these are rolled out, so we’ll definitely keep you updated!
