2020 may have been the Year of the Mouse, but the Disney Lunar New Year 2021 celebrates the upcoming Year of the Ox in a stunning fashion! As an Asian American, Lunar New Year is such an important holiday to me, and I’m glad that I get to celebrate with Disney style. This year, Lunar New Year falls on February 12 and ushers in the Year of the Ox (a year of hard work, determination, and rebuilding).
Year of the Ox Minnie Mouse Ears
The Disney Lunar New Year 2021 Minnie Mouse Ears are absolute standouts! From this first look, you can see that these red ears have an all over gold design with auspicious symbols – plus hidden Mickeys! The puffy red sequined bow is covered with gold plum blossoms, which are a predominant symbol for both Lunar New Year and Chinese culture in general. They symbolize courage, hope, and success through adversity – all things to wish for in the new year!
Year of the Ox Spirit Jersey
The Disney Lunar New Year 2021 Spirit Jersey is equally gorgeous. It is the same vibrant red shade as the ears (to signify abundance and life). This spirit jersey features gold detailing (more abundance and prosperity!). “Year of the Ox” with a gold ox is inscribed in the front. The spirit jersey also has an all over pattern in dark red glitter of various auspicious symbols. There are oxen, plums, plum blossoms, and even magpies, which are an omen of good fortune. Magpies and plum blossoms together mark happy new beginnings – so fitting to welcome in the new year!
