Earlier today, wedding gown designer Alfred Angelo launched his 2017 collection. The star of the show? Of course it was the Disney Fairy Tale Bridal Collection.
Angelo features many Disney inspired gowns on his website, and this year’s collection features two brand new Disney Princess dresses. The new dresses are inspired by Mulan and Pocahontas. I will show you Mulan’s dress in more detail in just a bit, but first, here is the sketch that inspired the Pocahontas gown. This gown is feminine and fierce!
This year, the fashion show was available on a live stream so brides could watch no matter where they were. To keep Disney brides in rapt anticipation, the Disney Fairy Tale Bridal Collection was the last to walk the runway. But the wait was well worth it! The 2017 collection features everything from ballgowns to mermaid silhouettes. How is a girl to possibly pick just one?
The show opened with Jiminy Cricket singing “When You Wish Upon a Star.” One of the first gowns to walk the runway was this Ariel inspired mermaid cut. This silhouette is perfect for Ariel; it looks like the model stepped right out of the ocean! I like how the lace detail of the bodice works well with the full tulle skirt.
But perhaps my favorite moment of the show was when the lights dimmed, the backdrop turned an icy blue, and the unmistakable opening notes of “Let it Go” began. A beautiful instrumental version of the song played as Alfred Angelo’s Elsa inspired dress strolled the runway. The cape feature on this dress is the perfect nod to Elsa’s unforgettable ice gown. And with the added sparkle, it glitters like it’s dusted in ice crystals.
New this year to Alfred Angelo’s Disney Fairy Tale Bridal Collection is a Mulan inspired gown. The last part of the show was dedicated to this gown. Cherry Blossoms and purple orchids floated against the backdrop as the model worked this dress! I did not love the choice of Christina Aguilera belting out “Reflections.” I think an instrumental version of the song would have worked better here. Either way, the dress is beautiful. The detailed lace is perfect in this look.
My personal favorite gown from the new collection is inspired by Belle. The sweetheart neckline and lace bodice are exactly what I look for in a wedding gown. At least for now that is.
But what if you’ve already found your wedding dress? Alfred Angelo also features several bridesmaid designs in the Disney Maidens collection. These are my two favorite looks from the 2017 Disney Maidens collection. I love the cut and color of the deep blue dress. And the pale purple dress is flirty and feminine.
Whenever Alfred Angelo launches a new Disney line, the gowns are admired and sought after by pretty much every Disney bride out there. But what about you? Do you like the new dresses? Which gown is your favorite? Let me know what you think of the 2017 Disney Fairy Tale Bridal Collection in the comments.
